Care and Longevity

These guidelines will help you wash, dry, and store your animaná pieces correctly. If you need more info, just give us a call or send us a message.

Hand Washing
We recommend hand washing as the best method for our products. Keep in mind that wool can shrink if it goes through sudden temperature changes in water, so use cool or room-temperature water and a gentle soap. Avoid the washing machine since it can be rough on our natural fibers.

For the best hand wash, just follow these tips:

  • Keep the water temperature cool (no more than 30ºC)

  • Use a neutral soap

  • Don’t use detergents or bleach

Drying
Gently remove excess water, but try not to twist, fold, or wrinkle the items too much. We don’t recommend using a dryer. The best approach is to lay the piece flat on a towel and let it air dry in a place that’s not in direct sunlight. Just gently smooth out the garment with your hands to reduce wrinkles.

Ironing
We suggest using a steamer for ironing. If you’re using a regular iron, set it to the wool setting and use steam.

Storage
Make sure your garment is fully dry before storing it and keep it safe from moths—sachets of dried lavender work well. We don’t recommend using mothballs.
